Following the success of 'Avatar 3D', director James Cameron returns with the sci-fi epic, which now features an additional eight minutes of footage featuring new creatures and action scenes, all in 3D.
It is the 22nd century and humans have travelled far into space from the safety of the Earth as large corporations realize that distant worlds promise a wealth of minerals and resources just waiting to be plundered.
Into this situation comes young Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a marine who has been wounded in battle, leading to him being paralyzed from the waist down.
However, as part of a newly-formed program, Sully finds he has the possibility of walking again as an 'avatar', literally a human mind controlling an alien body. By controlling the movements of the body of a deceased alien with his mind, Sully will be able to move about freely once more.
The distant moon of Pandora is being stripped of its natural treasures and the humans doing the work on the planetoid require a guide to help them see further into the dark forests in order to map out future mining and deforesting plans. Sully becomes that guide.
However, in the forests lives the Na'vi, a sentient humanoid race that is more physically capable than humans, although considered primitive because of their preference of living in harmony with their unspoiled world. But as humans begin to encroach further and further onto their land, the Na'vi who stand three meters tall, with tails and sparkling blue skin, unleash their formidable warrior abilities to defend their threatened existence
And when Sully begins living with the Na'vi, infiltrating their society to help counteract their attacks, he meets Neytiri (Zoe Saldana), whose beauty is only matched by her ferocity in battle.
Over time, Jake integrates himself into Neytiri's clan, and begins to fall in love with her. As a result, Jake finds himself caught between the military-industrial forces of Earth, and the Na'vi, forcing him to choose sides in an epic battle that will decide the fate of an entire world.
